I selected my student because she is quiet and I wanted to get to know her more. My collaborating teacher told me that talking to her and spending some one-on-one time with her would perhaps bring out some confidence in her and I would love that. Another reason I picked her was because she is an ELL, just as I was when growing up. I want to help her as much as I can.

According to Dana and Yendol-Hoppey, "The context of teaching makes the profession an especially ripe context for cultivating an inquiry question." My wondering for my focus student is, "How I can help her with her comprehension of reading and facilitate her retelling of stories?" The text mentioned that learners are like puzzles. I agree with this statement because some are difficult to figure out while others easy. They may take time but in the end it is worth it because they will come together and you have accomplished something great.
